I noticed the benefits of Ayurveda in my Hair Regime in Feb 2012, when I did my "7 Months Post Relaxer Length Check", following my huge relaxer cut in November. Okay, the expansion was not Rapunzel jaw dropping kinda long, but considering my transitioning struggles, I knew my DIY Scalp Oil- comprised of a fantastic load of Ayurvedic ingredients, was certainly why I had a fantastic amount of new growth and my hair was, and still remains, super healthy. So, if you enjoy what you've heard up to now, and are considering incorporating some Ayurvedic spice to your life, then here are a few basic steps on how...

First things first, what precisely is Ayurveda?

Ayurvedic regimes include using herbs and natural powders native to India, which are used religiously and renown for its evident role they play in fostering thick, long and voluptuous hair. To top it off they're preservative/silicone/synthetic ingredient and sulfate free!

Toot that horn!!!

Ayurvedic Hair Care Ingredients List

I have decided against a very long winded listing but stuck to the products which are easily accessible and that concentrate on specific hair needs. Hey, you might even have any of these in your spice cupboard already! I have also emphasized the ones that I use...

Neem | Acts as an antibacterial powder that is widely utilized to heal, or control dandruff, therefore promoting a healthy scalp.

Henna | Natural dye, as well as hair strengthener and temporary rotating thickener, is also used to promote smoother and shinier hair.

Brahmi | Antioxidant properties, also known to reduce hair loss and encourage growth and hair strengthening.

Amla (Amalaki) | Great hair conditioning properties, whilst also strengthening, nourishing and keeping gray hairs at bay

Bhringraj | Used as a pure conditioning representative in addition to hair loss reducer.

Shikakai | Employed as a scalp cleansing age

Encourages healthy hair growth, conditions hair prevents hair loss and also known to thicken new growth.

How do you integrate Ayurveda hair care in your regime, the easy way?

My rule of thumb with Ayurveda is that a bit goes a very long way! A teaspoon or 2 in every step of your hair regime is all you need

Conditioner [co-wash] +1/2 tsp Hibiscus + 1/2 tsp Neem + 1/2 tsp Brahmi

As for Deep conditioning and Pre-pooing, here are a few recipes I love love love...

Leave Henna gloss treatment for a single hour, or longer depending on the results you need (more = deeper conditioning + more visible color effects).

Rinse Hair thoroughly and co-wash to finish off.

2 tablespoon of Hibiscus Powder

Mix solidified EVCO with Coconut Cream and Hibiscus Powder. Apply all over hair and leave beneath shower cap for an hour. Then rinse and start with quick co-wash to get rid of oil residue.
